There are a total of nine spiritual gifts of the Spirit that Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 12: 4-10. But there are many more! Though the exact number is debatable, the Holy Spirit gave spiritual gifts to the early church and continues to give to His church today!

You may say: “I know what my spiritual gifts are, but…how do I share my spiritual gifts?”

Let’s list the nine spiritual gifts that Paul mentions in the scripture referenced above as a foundation before we further explore how to share them with others.

  • wisdom
  • knowledge
  • faith
  • healing
  • miraculous powers
  • prophecy
  • distinguishing between spirits
  • speaking in different kinds of tongues
  • interpretation of tongues

So, how do you and I share spiritual gifts?

According to Charisma Magazine, “As Christians, we make up the body of Christ. We are members of the body and we need the rest of the body in order to live; we cannot make it on our own. What’s more, being a member of the body of Christ means we have a unique gifting the rest of the body needs too. We need one another and the [gifts] of the Spirit we each bring to the thriving of the body.”

The church or the body of Christ is built on time, talents, and financial gifts from all of us! As members of the body, we all share a commitment to spreading God’s Word and sharing God’s love to the world.

But that still doesn’t answer the question: How do I share my spiritual gifts?

The first way is through volunteering at your work or in the community. By volunteering, you are sure to use the gift(s) that God blessed you with.

The second way to share your spiritual gifts is by your profession, vocation, or job. Through the work that you do, you many have opportunities to use your gift(s) and be a blessing to others.

Another way to share your spiritual gifts is through discipleship, mentoring, or coaching. By being an example to others, and allowing God to use your spiritual gift(s), you are shining the light of Jesus into someone else’s life, thus, resulting in someone desiring to know and love God more.

One way to share your spiritual gifts is through your hobbies; hobbies such as arts, crafts, music, writing, photography, performing, etc. People are usually significantly blessed when they experience art of various kinds. Even if your hobbies aren’t of an artistic nature, brainstorm some ideas on how your hobby could be a blessing for others as we go towards our God-ordained destiny. After all, that’s what spiritual gifts are there for – so that we might fulfill the calling of God on our lives.

The fifth way to share your spiritual gifts is by making yourself available to different ministries at your church. Spiritual gifts build up and encourage the body of Christ; there is not a more prevalent place to share your spiritual gifts than at your church.
